Who’s Talking to Who?
Communication, emotion and neurodiversity at work
A three-hour workshop about how we interpret workplace situations, manage our emotional responses and communicate with one another. It explores what happens inside and between people, then connects that understanding with practical choices.
What one person means
“I’m just asking for an update on this.”
What the other hears
“You don’t trust me to do my job.”
Available where you are, in a suitable space arranged locally, or as part of a residential in Dorset. Selected workshops can also be delivered online.
Who’s Talking to Who? can also be delivered as a residential, with more privacy and more space around the work. See how residentials work.

The central idea
Two people in the same conversation can be experiencing completely different meanings.
One person thinks they’re asking for information; the other hears a challenge to their competence.
The meaning each gives the exchange shapes how they respond, and that response becomes something the other person interprets. That’s who’s talking to who.
A practical framework
Four questions at the heart of the workshop
What meaning am I giving this?
What am I being pulled to do?
What would help me choose my next response?
Mindsetmeans the interpretations, expectations and learned rules someone is bringing to the moment.
Emotional managementmeans noticing your experience and finding conditions, support or actions that help. It doesn’t mean suppressing feelings or agreeing with an unreasonable demand.
Eight overlapping lenses
Places to look, not labels to apply.
These lenses help people understand what may be informing an exchange, without categorising anyone or requiring private disclosure. Actual workload, resources, conduct and organisational responsibility stay visible alongside the psychological picture.

What participants take away
Understanding, questions and practical choices.
Greater clarity
A way to separate an event, its interpretation, an emotional response and the urge to act.
More useful questions
Practical ways to check meaning and establish what a conversation needs.
Workable options
Changes to timing, information, setting or participation, alongside appropriate adjustments.
A considered next response
Asking, listening, waiting, pausing, repairing, seeking a decision or setting a boundary.
Recognition of limits
Knowing when the issue needs organisational action or support rather than more self-reflection.
